About the Book

Exodus of Black Excellence grows directly out of Dr. Nick Dawkins’ two decades of leadership and his doctoral research in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies. It draws on his scholarship into Black school leaders, institutional pressure, racialized expectations, retention, and the conditions that shape adult sustainability and student outcomes.

Written from the vantage point of a practitioner who has led in classrooms, districts, charter networks, higher education, and community-based organizations, the book examines what it takes to build durable systems, courageous teams, and learning environments where young people inherit more than survival.
